DAA Plan To Increase Airport Charges

It seems that certain companies, namely the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) are rubbing salt into the wound of our failing tourist economy by increasing the cost of entry to Ireland by a massive 26% (Business Today 5/12/09).

It was clearly published by Deloitte and the Irish Tourist Industry Confederation that 2009 saw the largest ever recorded drop in tourist numbers to Ireland in any one year (a massive 10% during the first six months) with a significant reduction in the number of visitors from Britain.

The DAA should take a leaf out of the hoteliers, restaurateurs and Irish hire car companies’ books, they all know that the best way to keep visitors arriving is to keep costs low!
