Ireland Sets Sights on Europe

Ireland’s tourism industry is increasing advertising and marketing in France and Germany following the collapse in visitors from Britain.

The weak pound has been blamed for the reduction in British tourists to Ireland. But the Irish are not worried, as they attract more and more visitors from the rest of Europe, including Italy, Spain, Sweden and the Netherlands.

Mainland Europe currently accounts for 37% of all overseas revenue, nearly as much as those visiting from Britain.

Following Saturday’s opening of the first section of the Dublin mountains, Eamon O Cuiv, Irelands Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs said “Walking routes have the capacity to attract even more visitors to Ireland and to develop sustainable local jobs,”, along with the cheap continental flights and the possibility of car rental in Dublin, the latest move is set to boost the tourism industry by up to 15%.
