Athy, Co. Kildare, has been earmarked as the first town to be reinvigorated by the new Tourism Ireland initiative called ‘SHINE’. The aim of the ‘SHINE’ project is to reinvent the town, via re-development, as a tourist hotspot for overseas visitors.

Working alongside Fáilte Ireland the new ‘SHINE’ initiative, developed by Tourism Ireland, will be rolled out in Athy over a period of three months. 

Many enterprises are set to gain from the venture, including the Irish car hire industry, hoteliers, restaurateurs and other tourist attractions within the local economy.
