In contrast to predictions made by the international tourism industry, Tourism Ireland is claiming to be able to increase the number of visitors to our shores by a massive 3% next year.

The boost in numbers will help to bolster the flagging tourist economy, with more people needing Irish hire cars, Irish hotels and other tourist utilities.

This year saw an estimated 7.6 million tourists, but for 2010, Tourism Ireland is hoping to increase this figure to 7.85 million.

Marketing strategies will be targeting German and British tourists in particular as research indicates these markets have the best potential.
