Tralee, County Kerry
For all its natural beauty, Ireland has a few more commercialised attractions that are worth investing a day in here and there. Too many days of sightseeing and driving around the countryside is exhausting, and a change of pace can be just what travellers need. This is especially true for families with children.
In Kerry, the Aqua Dome is one of the most popular family attractions. This is one of the largest indoor water parks in the country, and due to the tropical temperatures inside, it’s always a good time to take the family swimming. For kids who have been on the circuit too long and admired a few too many prehistoric sites and craggy shorelines, this can be the perfect diversion.
There are several different rides on site. Some are designed for swimmers; others are just about splashing around and cooling off. There are flumes, a wave pool, falling rapids, cannons, gushers, lazy river rides and a range of other attractions. There is also a dedicated adults-only area where the pace is slower and the splashing is kept to a minimum.
Of course, getting here is more complicated for those who have not arranged car hire from Kerry Airport. For those who do have a vehicle, getting to the park is straightforward. The Aqua Dome offers free parking, so arriving in your own car is convenient. Better yet, those who didn’t bring a swimsuit with them from home will find everything they need for sale in the Aqua Dome.
