Fota Wildlife Park in Cork is a special zoo that where appropriate allows for a free roaming environment where the animals and you the visitors can wander freely in the park and enjoy each other’s company. Larger animals such as the giraffe and bison live in enclosed paddocks with unobtrusive barriers to allow for good viewing of the animals in a natural environment.
The park is home to nearly 30 mammal and 50 bird species. These include zebra, cheetahs, emus, ostriches, lemurs, monkeys, kangaroos, red pandas, penguins, and many more. There is also a wide variety of flowers and trees to be found which will tantalise nature lovers. The park is very educational and aims to increase awareness about the conservation of these precious animal species.
The park is open year round at allocated times on different days. Admission is very affordable as adults pay €15 and children from 3-16 pay €9.50. There are further discounts for family and group tickets.
